The Organic School Project (OSP) is changing the way kids eat one school at a time. OSP provides school age children with a mindful foundation for a healthy lifestyle through wellness programming initiatives, expressed through a three-part mission Grow.Teach.Feed.:

  • Grow: OSP reconnects our children to their food source through school and community organic gardens.

  • Teach: OSP teaches children nutrition, mindfulness, and environmental stewardship through an integrated curriculum and wellness workshops.

  • Feed: OSP feeds children More Positive Foods(tm) through the school food service system. OSP meals are made-from-scratch, organic, natural and sourced locally when seasonally available.

By providing programming that helps children make a connection between the food they eat and their health, and that fosters stress-reducing attitudes and behaviors, OSP strives to combat the childhood obesity epidemic and other health-related illnesses.

OSP will be using The Green Eaters characters within their curriculum, as the characters allow students to visualize where their food comes from in accordance to their lesson plans.

Chapter One Organics is a proud partner with Eco-Libris!*

Eco-Libris is a green business that works with book readers, publishers, writers, bookstores, and others in the book industry to balance out the paper used for books by planting trees.  Eventhough our book is printed on 30% recycled paper we felt it was necessary to balance out the other 70% that wasn't recycled.

About 20 million trees are cut down annually for virgin paper to be used for the production of books sold in the U.S. alone. Eco-Libris raises awareness to the environmental impacts of using paper for the production of books and provides book lovers with a simple way to do something about it: plant a tree for every book they read.

Eco-Libris partnered with three highly respected U.S. and U.K. registered non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with local communities in developing countries to plant these trees. These trees are planted in high ecological and sustainable standards in Latin America (Nicaragua, Guatemala, Panama, Belize, and Honduras) and Africa (Malawi) where deforestation is a crucial problem. Planting trees in these places not only helps to fight climate change and conserve soil and water, but also benefits many local people, for whom these trees offer many benefits, such as improvement of crops and additional food and income, and an opportunity for a better future.

Please visit their site to learn how easy it is to balance out your books (http://www.ecolibris.net)!

*All of The Green Eaters Books purchased through our site and our retailers have been balanced out.  The books purchased through Amazon have not.  We hope to make that available for our next printing.
